Lost
and (not) Found
Why is it that you just can't seem to find something when you need it? That favorite pair of gloves, or the right scarf, or the lucky pair of earrings that you always wear for special occasions. It always seems that when you need something it is frustratingly just out of reach somewhere in the netherlands?
Maybe
it's just me, but why does this always seem to happen when the time is least
appropriate? Again and again, just as I've tucked something away for safe
keeping, with the firm conviction that some day, some way it will be needed,
when need arises. And when that day arrives, when going in search of said
object, I come up empty handed and confounded. It's just not where
I last left it. All I can do is shake my head. And of course return to
last known location repeatedly in hopes that somehow the desired object will
have re-appeared.
I've
got a theory, of course, as to why this phenomenon occurs time after time in my
life. Perhaps if you suffer the same enigma, it may bring you solace to
know that such desired objects, having felt the sting of rejection and
relegation to dark and dusty corners of one's closets, do indeed hide
themselves and dodge detection of the seeker and make themselves known at the
opportune moment?
This,
of course, explains why when the seeker searches for an item can repeatedly
overlook its hiding place. And why, after a second, third and fourth time
of looking in that same spot, the desired object will appear.
Of
course there are other explanations, but I tend to believe that there are
forces beyond my control playing tricks on me at times. Yes, that's my
story and I guess I'll stick to it.
Now, if
I could only find that new recipe.....I just know wrote it down and left it
somewhere. Know what? I'll bet it turns up when I least expect it.
